So the entire world knows that Munya Chidzonga of Zim did not win Big Brother Africa All Stars and thus lost out on $200 000. The eventual winner was Uti Nwachukwu of Nigeria. To console Munya, and the very small number of DSTv-watching people who were disconsolate over his loss, a group of Zim businessmen got together to raise 300 000 dollars to give to him. He also met the President, and in fact, appears to be well on his way to being co-opted into the Party of Blood. When told about Munya's gift, the winner Uti said:
"If (Munya) actually got that money, I congratulate him and I pray that the people of Zimbabwe can use this same attitude to approach poverty, hunger and every other problem they have there. If they can give someone $300,000 for not winning a game then that means Zimbabwe should have no reason whatsoever to have people that are hungry, suffering or oppressed."
Uti, you have provided this week's TWAG quote of the week. We thank you!!!

Uti should keep his comments to himself this has to do with rewarding Munya for representing his country. Hunger, poverty, opression are in another department. And realistically 300 000 is peanuts to dealing with long term issues that have been around for years. So why should we have big Brother in the fisrt place if Uti is so worried about hunger, opression, poverty he should donate his money then??? shut up. well deserved money Munya Chidzonga.
You act like you are in Zimbabwe. Do not comment on things u have no proof of. Admittedly, there are hardships in Zimbabwe but our time of dearth came in 2008 and it is in our own interest to recover from that period. Which we are earnestly trying to do as a nation. You releasing such a statement is unjustified because every country has it's poor INCLUDING Nigeria. Ask yourself this question- if the Kenyans had done the same for Sheilla would the reaction be the same? But only because it is us Zimbabweans, we are therefore judged for looking after our own. So before you release such statements, have YOUR OWN facts before you swallow what the media is feeding you.
If we don't look after our own representatives, WHO will? Not the rest of the world-not you and DEFINITELY NOT M-NET.
Mune mweya wegodo haikona? Imi pamaipihwa mazakwatira emari neGuardian yokuti manyora ngano dzinonakidza makadii kuiramba muchiti "aiwa ipai vanotambura?" What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Where is my comment?
Petina, I totally agree with the winner of Africa Big Brother. I have never watched the show, but rather heard the commentaries of US big brother shows. Now the world knows that there are lots of millionaires in Zimbabwe, a country that doesn't have money to pay it's farmers for their crops. They give them maize and seeds instead. A country many people can not afford basic medical care. The roads are in a terrible state. The minimum wage is around $200, if I am not mistaken, maybe lower. Millionaires give to charity, the needy, the homeless, grants for education and other worthy causes. It just goes to show that the concept of civic involvement in the development and uplifting of Zimbabwe is a foreign idea to most people. This guy does not possess any extraordinary abilities except those of the shallow kind, and so does his beneficiaries.
This is such a wise quote from Uti ad I hope the people make use of this.
Although I sense that there is an element of jealousy in Uti's comment I also think that he kinda has a point.
If people can come together for something seemingly trivial as appeasing a Big Brother runner up with a lump of cash, surely more can be done for the hungry children in the rural areas of Chipinge, Gutu and so on who don't have school fees to go to school.
Wow, Zimbabwe must be in a state of confusion. Personally, I do not believe munya was a good representative for his country and to be awarded with such a large amount of money is beyond unreasonable. A country with as much problems as Zimbabwe should not be throwing money around that way.Not only that, but they are also giving themselves a silly reputation in the outside world.
